Here at Climate Control we know how hard your air conditioner is working to help you beat the heat. We’re here to give you some AC Maintenance tips on how to help your AC as effective as possible. This will also save energy, increase your comfort, and maximize efficiency.

Protect your AC from the Inside and Outside

One of the most important parts of getting the most efficiency out of your HVAC unit is keeping the cold air in and the hot air out. To do so we recommend making sure your house is weatherized. Simple steps can be taken to help weatherize your home and prevent air loss when you need cool air the most. Prevent leaks with weather-stripping and proper insulation. Also, ensure your home is storing the cool air and not letting the hot in. Our other tip to help maintain a proper air conditioned house is to have window film installed. This not only helps keep your house cool in the summer months, but also keeps it warm during cold winter months.

Keep Your HVAC Unit in the Shade

When your air conditioner is kept in the shade and out of the sun it is in the best conditions for running efficiently. When your unit is in the shade there is automatically cooler air around it than if it were directly in the sun. If your AC unit is already surrounded by cooler air it will have to do less work in cooling the air. At the same time, it is also vital to not have bushes and plants surrounded. This can affect air flow and cause your unit to not perform effectively.
