5 Ways to Know If You Need to Repair or Replace your HVAC System

Have you been running on the same HVAC System for years? Do you feel as if it’s time for an upgrade?

Don’t replace your HVAC unit right away without making sure a replacement is the first thing you need. Sometimes, all you need are some repairs on your system. Figure out if you need to repair or replace your HVAC system before you end up spending way more than you need to.  Use the following 5 ways to determine if it’s time to repair or replace your HVAC system!

1.     Energy Assessment

An energy assessment will determine right away if your HVAC system simply has some air leaks or if there is more to what meets the eye. Air leaks can cost you a lot which may lead you to think that you need to replace your HVAC system. But the fact is, they can be repaired easily and save you a lot of money.

There are 2 ways to see if air leaks are the issue. First a simple inspection of the house and second is the blower-door test. In this test, your house is pressurized in a way that will identify any air leaks. You can install insulation to prevent future air leaks. This will improve the overall working of your HVAC unit and you wouldn’t need to replace it right away.

2.     Electricity Bills

An HVAC system that is not working properly will draw a lot of energy and your electricity bill will be quite high. Once you start receiving higher electricity bills you know it’s time to replace your HVAC system. Replacing an HVAC system can be costly, but it will cut down your long bills. If your electricity bill remains the same and only the functionality of the system seems slow, repair your HVAC system.

3.     Mediocre Results

When you feel like your HVAC system is not heating or cooling appropriately and you aren’t feeling the desired temperature, consider calling one of our HVAC technicians to get it repaired. However, if you find yourself getting your HVAC system repaired too frequently you can then think about replacing it.

Too many repairs without changing the results of your HVAC system clearly show the need to replace it.

4.     Over Aged System

If your HVAC system is over 15 to 20 years old, it is high time you replace it. No number of repairs on a system that age it will make it function better.

The cost of replacing your HVAC system can be high that it’s wise to determine whether there is any need for replacement or if your older system can function better with a few repairs. Climate control can help you decide! Our technicians and support staff will help guide you in the right direction.

5.     Need to Upgrade

One of the strongest reasons to replace an old HVAC system is the need to upgrade it as per the technological changes of our time. Keeping a system that needs you to operate it manually will only satisfy you for so long when remotely accessible HVAC systems are available in the market. You can use a Wi-Fi enabled HVACs, thermostat or a sensi thermostat so you wouldn’t have to constantly worry about changing the temperature as you come and go. Replacing your HVAC system sounds like a great option when you can use these new additional features for your convenience.

No repairs can ever modernize your HVAC system.
