A common furnace repair complaint we hear from Lexington homeowners is that their furnace fan runs constantly. This problem may occur while using your heating or cooling systems, as the furnace fan works with both systems to distribute conditioned air throughout your home. If you notice this problem, there are a few steps you can take to solve the issue before calling Climate Control for repairs.

My furnace fan won’t shut off — what should I do?

Step 1: Check your thermostat. When using heating, set your thermostat a few degrees above the current room temperature. For cooling, set the thermostat a few degrees lower than the current room temperature. Doing so should signal the system to turn off; if the furnace fan does not turn off after a few minutes, move on to Step 2. • Step 2: Check your thermostat’s fan switch. Make sure the fan switch has not accidentally been set to “on”. If it is set to “auto” or “off”, it should not constantly run.
